Over the past 32 years, AFCD has forged strong relationships with the state's governmental and legislative leadership.
As a result, many AFCD members have been appointed to represent the development industry on important state commissions and task forces, including E.L.M.S. I, II and III Commissions, Affordable Housing commission, Governor's Growth Management Technical Advisory Committee, D.C.A. I.C.E. Task Force, Private Property Rights Commission, Business for a Better Environment Coalition, Governor's Task Force on Paperwork Reduction, Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's Land Sales Task Force and D.C.A.'s "Gold Card" Advisory Committee, D.C.A.'s EARS Advisory Committee, D.C.A.'s School Concurrency Advisory Committee, DOT's 2020 Transportation Advisory Committee, the Governor's Growth Management Study Commission, The Future of Florida America Assembly Process and the Governor's Manatee Summit. In these positions, they educate, lead and provide positive community development role models to the public and government bodies.
Through AFCD, members gain access to state decision-makers they may not have been able to reach otherwise.
